Hiro Mashima, the creator of the hit fantasy manga Fairy Tail, is working on a new project set in the same magical world. To mark the series' 20th anniversary this August, Mashima will launch a special miniseries that revisits well-known characters and locations, while introducing new stories and adventures. The first chapters are scheduled to appear in Weekly Shonen Magazine starting August 5.
The original Fairy Tail manga began on August 2, 2006, in Weekly Shonen Magazine and came to an end on July 26, 2017. Over its run, it reached 63 volumes and sold more than 72 million copies worldwide, becoming one of the most successful fantasy manga titles of its time.
Fairy Tail has grown into a broad multimedia franchise, reaching far beyond the original manga. It inspired several spinoff series, multiple anime adaptations, feature films, and video games that let fans dive into the world of Fiore. Since July 2018, readers have also been following Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, a direct sequel illustrated by Atsuo Ueda with Mashima overseeing the story.
At the core of the story are Natsu Dragneel and his trusted friends from the Fairy Tail Guild, a team of wizards united by loyalty, courage, and an endless appetite for adventure. The new miniseries is expected to carry on that spirit, combining action, humor, and heartfelt moments that made Fairy Tail a fan favorite around the world. Fans are already looking forward to seeing what new challenges and magical discoveries await their heroes when the series returns this summer.
