The ongoing serialization of the manga "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" (also known as Sousou no Frieren) has resumed after yet another hiatus. The fantasy tale has picked up its narrative thread once again in today's 34th issue of the Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine, where the 141st chapter of the manga was published. You can check out the latest issue on their official website.
The creative minds behind this series are writer Kanehito Yamada and artist Tsukasa Abe. Their work commenced in April 2020 and has currently been compiled into 14 volumes. The manga has achieved immense global popularity, with over 30 million copies in circulation worldwide.
In addition to the main story, five one-shots from various authors and light novels have been published. A special edition of the manga's 14th volume also featured a brief 24-page novella, adding more depth and context to the world of Frieren.
The first season of the anime adaptation of this fantasy saga, produced by the Madhouse studio, concluded in March 2024. The adaptation has been highly acclaimed and currently holds the top spot on MyAnimeList's rating chart.
Fans can look forward to the second season of the anime, which is scheduled to kick off in January 2026. A teaser for the new episodes has recently been released, further stirring the anticipation.
The tale of "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" begins at the end, 80 years after the fall of the Demon King at the hands of heroes Himmel, priest Gaitera, dwarf Aizen, and elven mage Frieren. Elves live longer than other races, and the virtually immortal Frieren witnesses her old comrades pass away one after another. To better understand those around her, Frieren embarks on a new journey with her new apprentice Fern.
