"Detective is Already Dead" Anime Set for Season Two Comeback in 2026, Five Years After Debut Season

The upcoming year's anime roster has once again been enriched with an exciting announcement. It has been confirmed that the second season of the series "The Detective is Already Dead" (Tantei wa Mō, Shindeiru) will be released in 2026. The first season premiered in 2021, meaning that fans will have been waiting for a whole five years for the sequel to make its appearance.

In tandem with this revelation, it has also been disclosed that the original authors and voice actors from the first season are back on board, collaborating again with the renowned animation studio ENGI. This information was reported by the Anime News Network portal.

The series is based on the successful light novel series "The Detective is Already Dead". The first season of the anime adaptation was launched in July of 2021, enthralling viewers with its 12 episodes.

The story revolves around Kimihiko Kimizuka, a high school student who used to be the assistant of a detective named Siesta. They met three years ago on a hijacked airplane, at an altitude of 10,000 meters. This unlikely pairing embarked on a series of dangerous adventures together over the course of three years, which ultimately ended with Siesta's tragic death. Left alone, Kimihiko does his best to return to a normal life until a girl appears who bears an uncanny resemblance to Siesta...

Earlier, it was revealed that the second season of the anime series "Wistaria's Wand and Sword" will premiere next year. Additionally, 2026 will also see the continuation of the series "About My Reincarnation as a Sword".
