'Demon Slayer: Infinity Fortress', the massive box office hit, wraps up its theatrical run in April

The Japanese theatrical release of is preparing to wrap up its remarkable run with the first film in the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Infinity Castle trilogy. The movie will leave theaters on April 9, nearly nine months after its premiere, marking the end of an era for fans who experienced it on the big screen. Its conclusion in theaters has naturally sparked excitement and speculation about when digital and streaming releases might arrive.

Since its Japanese debut in July 2025, the film has earned over 39.8 billion yen (approximately $250 million), making it the most successful local release of the year. That kind of box office power cements Demon Slayer as Japan’s most dominant film franchise of the decade. Infinity Castle Part 1 now ranks as the second highest-grossing Japanese film of all time, just behind the record-breaking Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, which premiered in 2020 and ultimately grossed about 40.7 billion yen.

With a moderate $20 million production budget, Infinity Castle Part 1 achieved an impressive $778.9 million worldwide according to The Numbers, placing it among the top global box office performers of 2025. It also stands as the highest-grossing Japanese film ever made, further solidifying the international strength and popularity of the Demon Slayer brand.

The Infinity Castle trilogy continues the cinematic adaptation of the final arcs from the original manga created by Koyoharu Gotouge. Ufotable, the celebrated studio behind the franchise’s intricate animation and intense fight choreography, is once again leading production. While the second and third films in the trilogy have not yet received official release dates, expectations are soaring. Fans worldwide are keen to see how the story’s emotional climax and the fierce final battles will be brought to life with the studio’s signature visual precision and storytelling intensity.

As Demon Slayer continues to dominate both critical and commercial landscapes, its success reflects how anime films have evolved from niche entertainment into globally recognized cinematic events. With Infinity Castle’s ongoing legacy and two more films still to come, the future of the franchise looks brighter than ever.
