The hit romantic comedy anime Rent-a-Girlfriend (Kanojo, Okarishimasu) has officially confirmed the release date of its fifth season. The new season will premiere for streaming audiences on April 8, with the televised broadcast set to follow on April 10. The announcement was reported by Anime News Network.
The anime is based on the popular manga by Reiji Miyajima, which has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine under Kodansha since July 2017. The series has grown into a massive franchise, currently spanning 44 volumes and boasting more than 15 million copies in circulation. Its blend of humor, awkward romance, and emotional drama has helped it capture a wide international fanbase.
Alongside the main storyline, the franchise also includes a spin-off manga that explores side characters and their relationships. In addition, Rent-a-Girlfriend has inspired a live-action drama adaptation and even a visual novel game, allowing fans to experience the story in multiple formats.
