In early July, the premiere of the anime series based on the unfinished culinary manga, "Fermat's Kitchen" (or Fermat no Ryōri in Japanese) was launched. By the end of August, the sixth volume of the manga will be released, pushing the series' total circulation over 800,000 copies.
The original manga has been in publication since September 2018, and is the brainchild of Yugo Kobayashi, best known for his creation of the popular sports series "Ao Ashi". The sixth collection of "Fermat's Kitchen" is slated to come out on August 29.
The anime adaptation of the captivating story is being undertaken by the accomplished studio Domerica, known for works like "The World is Limited to You. Animation".
Interestingly, "Fermat's Kitchen" has already been adapted into a game series. The show was released in 2023 and consists of a gripping run of 10 episodes.
The series follows the journey of a young student named Gaku, who harbors dreams of becoming a mathematician and winning a math Olympiad. Despite his best efforts, he fails and loses his scholarship. To make ends meet and pay for his education, he takes on a job at a cafeteria, where he crosses paths with a brilliant head chef. The chef sees potential in Gaku and hires him to work at his own restaurant. Here, Gaku is able to apply his mathematical skills in a whole new way.
In related news, the "Sakamoto Days" series recently updated its circulation numbers. Additionally, fans can look forward to the continuation of the anime adaptation of "Ao Ashi", set to be released in 2026.
