The first part of the trilogy "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle" continues to amass significant box office earnings swiftly and massively. Last week, it surpassed the domestic box office collections of the anime "Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet". Consequently, this new "Demon Slayer" became the highest-grossing film of the Japanese box office in 2025 and it's likely to keep this title.
"The Scarlet Bullet" is the 28th full-length film in the "Detective Conan" series. The film was released on April 18th and had collected 14.63 billion yen by August 3rd.
The first anime of the "Infinity Castle" trilogy carries an additional subtitle, "Return of Akaza". Over the span of 17 days, from July 18 to August 3, it earned 17.64 billion yen (about $ 120 million). With these earnings, "Return of Akaza" has become the 10th highest-grossing film in the history of Japanese cinema. Among anime movies alone, it ranks seventh in terms of box office success.
