'Torture Princess' manga wraps up as new anime season announced

The final chapter of the manga It's Time for "Torture," Princess (Hime-sama, "Gōmon" no Jikan Desu) has just been released on Shonen Jump+ in both the app and on the website. The series closed with chapter 282, marking the end of its long run.

This comedy-fantasy manga began serialization in April 2019 and has since been collected into 17 volumes. Its mix of humor, adventure, and playful storytelling has helped it stand out in an increasingly competitive fantasy manga landscape.

The anime adaptation, produced by PINE JAM, premiered its first season in January 2024. Following its strong reception, the show was renewed for a second season, which is scheduled to debut in January 2026. The first season consisted of 12 episodes, while the number of episodes in the upcoming season is yet to be confirmed.

The premise of the story is both comedic and whimsical: a captured princess is held by enemy forces, but instead of harsh interrogations or violence, she is tempted with delicious food and entertaining games in exchange for information. The series cleverly parodies the concept of “torture,” transforming it into lighthearted and absurd.

For fans who enjoy surrounding themselves with fun and imaginative worlds outside the page or screen, exploring themed accessories like landscape desk mats inspired by fantasy settings can be a creative way to celebrate their love of playful storytelling.
