Thriller anime 'Beastars' to wrap up in spring 2026

The hit anime Beastars is returning next year for its highly anticipated conclusion. Netflix will release the second half of the third season in spring, with the final episodes expected to arrive in March 2026. An exact premiere date has yet to be announced, according to What's on Netflix.

Based on the acclaimed manga series by Paru Itagaki, Beastars has earned wide recognition for its emotional storytelling and bold exploration of social themes. The manga ran across 22 volumes and received several major awards, including the Manga Taishō and the Kodansha Manga Award. By 2021, total circulation had surpassed 7.5 million copies.

The anime adaptation is produced by Studio Orange, known for its impressive 3D animation work on Land of the Lustrous. The first season premiered in 2019, quickly gaining a strong global following for its mature themes and distinctive visual style. The second season arrived in 2021, continuing the story’s darker and more complex arcs. The first part of the third season debuted on Netflix in December 2024, leaving fans eager for the conclusion.

Beastars is set in a unique world inhabited by anthropomorphic animals, where predators and herbivores strive to coexist peacefully. In this delicate balance, students at Cherryton Academy learn, play, and dream side by side - until one day, the fragile harmony shatters when an alpaca student, Tem, is mysteriously killed and devoured on school grounds. The shocking event exposes deep cultural tensions and sets off a chain of events that challenge the moral fabric of their society.

Through compelling characters such as the introspective gray wolf Legoshi and the confident rabbit Haru, the series examines identity, prejudice, love, and what it means to fight one’s natural instincts. The upcoming final episodes promise to bring these emotional arcs to a powerful close, making Beastars one of the most anticipated anime releases on Netflix in the coming year.
