The fourth season of the hit anime That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken) has been pushed back slightly. Episode five, which was supposed to air on May 1, will now be released a week later, on May 8. According to a news report, the delay was announced without any reason given, leaving fans curious but still looking forward to the next episode.
The anime is adapted from the light novel series written by Fuse. The story was first published online between 2013 and 2016 before being released in print beginning in 2014. The 23rd and latest volume came out in November 2025, bringing to a close one of the most popular series in the fantasy isekai genre.
Over time, the That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime franchise has become a major success. It has expanded into several light novel spin-offs, multiple manga adaptations, and several seasons of anime. Together, these have sold more than 56 million copies worldwide, placing it among the best-selling light novel franchises ever.
The anime adaptation is handled by the team at 8-Bit studio, known for their strong animation and faithful adaptation of the original material. Season 4 premiered on April 3 and continues Rimuru’s story as he grows as a leader and navigates a world filled with monsters, magic, and alliances that have drawn in fans for years.
The story follows Satoru Mikami, a 37-year-old office worker who is killed during a robbery. Just before dying, he hears a strange voice offering him another chance at life. Reborn as a slime in a fantasy world that works like an RPG, he befriends a powerful dragon named Veldora and takes on the name Rimuru Tempest. From there, he starts building a peaceful nation where all races can coexist, discovering new powers and forming strong bonds along the way.
