The fresh full-length anime adaptation of Koyoharu Gotōge's manga series has once again set a new record. The inaugural segment of the trilogy, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle", has become the fastest film to accumulate 10 billion yen at the Japanese box office, achieving this impressive feat in just eight days.
In the first 10 days of its release (July 18-27), the film grossed a staggering 12,872,176,700 yen (approximately $87.10 million) from 9,104,483 sold tickets. This remarkable achievement was reported by the portal Anime News Network.
Despite its success, the new "Demon Slayer" installment currently ranks second in box office earnings for Japanese films in 2025. Taking the lead spot is the animated film "Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet," which has raked in 14.54 billion yen.
The "Infinity Castle" trilogy aims to bring to life the remaining chapters of Gotōge's manga series. The first part of the trilogy carries the additional subtitle "Return of Akaza." Rumor has it that the second part will be released in 2027, with the final installment set for 2029.
The original manga was published in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine by Shueisha from 2016 to 2020 and is compiled into 23 volumes. The worldwide circulation of the manga series has reached an astounding 220 million copies.
