The latest anime adaptation of Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga has already earned an impressive 25.78 billion yen in Japan, climbing to fourth place among the highest-grossing films of all time in the country. The only titles ahead of it are Demon Slayer: Mugen Train (40.75 billion yen), Spirited Away (31.68 billion yen), and Titanic (27.77 billion yen).
In its first month of release, from July 18 to August 17, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle - Return of Akaza brought in 25,782,656,600 yen, which is roughly $174.7 million. That positions the anime not only as a cultural milestone in Japan but also as a major contender in the worldwide box office market.
