'Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle' Box Office Nears 39 Billion Yen

The first installment of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle trilogy, released last summer, is still performing strongly in Japan’s home box office. After nearly half a year in theaters, the feature film has earned 38.9 billion yen, which is roughly $248.8 million. The movie is close to surpassing the 39 billion yen milestone, a rare achievement even among Japan’s most successful cinematic releases.

Premiering in July, the film became Japan’s highest-grossing movie of 2025 and currently ranks as the second biggest box office hit in Japanese history. The only film ahead of it remains 2020’s Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, which set records with 40.75 billion yen in earnings. That earlier installment was a global phenomenon, drawing both anime fans and general audiences with its mix of breathtaking animation and heartfelt storytelling.

Internationally, Infinity Castle has brought in an impressive $720.7 million to date, making it the seventh highest-grossing release of 2025 and officially the most successful Japanese film ever worldwide. Its worldwide reach highlights the growing popularity of anime cinema beyond Japan, with audiences in North America and Europe increasingly supporting theatrical anime releases.

The Infinity Castle trilogy marks a highly anticipated conclusion to the Demon Slayer saga. Studio ufotable, known for its visually stunning and emotionally charged animation, is adapting the final chapters of the manga through these films. While the second and third parts of the trilogy have yet to receive confirmed release dates, fans can expect even more ambitious animation, intense battles, and a deeply emotional finale that will bring Tanjiro’s story to its climactic end.

The continued box office success of Demon Slayer is a testament to the series’ cultural impact. It not only revitalized global interest in anime movies but also set new standards for production quality, musical scoring, and storytelling in the genre. As audiences await the next installments, the franchise’s influence shows no sign of slowing down, ensuring its place among the modern icons of world cinema.
