The first film in the anime trilogy Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Infinity Castle has achieved an impressive milestone at the Japanese box office. According to reports, the movie has earned around 40.02 billion yen (approximately $251.9 million) domestically. This makes it only the second film ever in Japan to surpass the 40 billion yen mark. The first to reach this milestone was Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, which premiered in October 2020 and ultimately earned 40.75 billion yen.
The first installment of the Infinity Castle trilogy premiered in theaters on July 18, 2025, with its theatrical run concluding on April 9. A digital release date is expected to be announced soon, allowing fans who missed it in cinemas to experience the movie at home.
With a production budget of around $20 million, the anime grossed $781.3 million worldwide, according to The Numbers. That ranks it as the seventh highest-grossing film of 2025 and the most successful Japanese film ever made. The movie’s combination of breathtaking animation, emotionally charged storytelling, and blockbuster-scale action has drawn rave reviews from both longtime fans and newcomers to the franchise.
Ufotable, the studio behind the series, is adapting the remaining chapters of the original Demon Slayer manga by Koyoharu Gotouge across the Infinity Castle trilogy. While release dates for the next chapters have not yet been announced, anticipation is already sky-high. Fans can expect the upcoming installments to dive deeper into the climactic battles, intricate character arcs, and emotional resolutions that bring the beloved story to its epic conclusion.
