Not only is the series Oshi no Ko reaching its conclusion with a fourth season, the high-octane anime MF Ghost will also wrap up with its fourth and final chapter. The announcement was made on the official website of the racing show.
MF Ghost is based on the manga by Shuichi Shigeno, best known as the creator of the legendary street racing manga Initial D. The manga was serialized from September 2017 through February 2025 in Weekly Young Magazine, published by Kodansha. By the summer of 2024, the series had surpassed 5 million copies in circulation, underscoring its popularity among fans of racing-themed stories. In total, the manga spans 23 collected volumes.
The first season of the anime adaptation premiered in 2023, followed by the second in 2024 and the third shortly thereafter. Although the premiere date for the fourth and final season has not been confirmed, the series continues to be produced by Felix Film. Fans are eagerly awaiting how the studio will bring the story’s adrenaline-fueled journey to a satisfying close.
The story of MF Ghost is set in the near future, a time when self-driving electric and hybrid vehicles dominate the roads. Still, a passionate community of racers pushes back against automation through the organization known as MFG, founded by Ryosuke Takahashi from Initial D. MFG hosts and broadcasts traditional street races using internal combustion engine cars, celebrating the thrill of human skill and mechanical precision in an age of technology.
Among the competitors is 19-year-old Kanata Livington, racing under the alias Kanata Katagiri. Driving his Toyota 86, Kanata is no ordinary racer - he’s a graduate of the Royal Donington Racing School in the UK and a Formula 4 champion. Trained by the legendary Takumi Fujiwara, the protagonist of Initial D, Kanata travels to Japan not just to compete but to uncover the mystery of his missing father. His story combines personal discovery, fierce competition, and the enduring love for the art of driving.
