Science SARU is moving full speed ahead with its adaptation of Dandadan, the supernatural action-comedy manga created by Yukinobu Tatsu. The studio has officially confirmed that a third season of the anime is in production and is scheduled for release in 2027.
The first season of the anime debuted in 2024, followed by the second season a year later, each running for 12 episodes. A feature-length compilation film, Dandadan: The Evil Eye, also hit theaters, offering fans a cinematic recap of the early episodes of the second season and showcasing the series' distinct mix of high-energy battles and absurd humor.
The manga has been serialized since April 2021 on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ digital platform. To date, 21 volumes have been released, and the series has surpassed 12 million copies in circulation - a remarkable achievement for a relatively new title. The next collected volume is set to launch in January 2026, promising even more wild stories and bizarre encounters.
The story follows Momo Ayase, a girl who believes in spirits and ghosts but scoffs at UFOs and aliens. Her classmate, nicknamed Okarun, holds the opposite view - he’s convinced extraterrestrials are real but dismisses anything related to the supernatural. To prove each other wrong, they set out to investigate their respective beliefs: Momo visits a spot famous for UFO sightings, while Okarun explores a haunted tunnel. What they discover changes everything, blending the uncanny with the hilarious in a way only Dandadan can deliver.
Fans can also look forward to 2027 bringing another treat for anime enthusiasts, as the third season of Muscles and Magic will premiere alongside Dandadan’s next chapter.
