Demon Slayer’s New Film Surpasses 31 Billion Yen at the Box Office

The anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle - Akaza Returns has already earned more than 31 billion yen at the Japanese box office. By the end of last week, its gross revenue reached 31.43 billion yen (around $213.2 million). It currently holds the position of the third highest-grossing film of all time in Japan, but it is expected to climb to second place within days.

The all-time leaders at the Japanese box office are still the anime Demon Slayer: Mugen Train with 40.75 billion yen and Studio Ghibli’s legendary Spirited Away with 31.68 billion yen.

The premiere of Akaza Returns took place on July 18. This film marks the beginning of the Infinity Castle trilogy, which will adapt the final chapters of Koyoharu Gotouge’s original Demon Slayer manga. The animation is once again handled by the acclaimed studio ufotable, known for its breathtaking visuals and action sequences.

The first Demon Slayer feature film, Mugen Train, was released in 2020 and became a cultural phenomenon. Fans who want to bring that same energy to their everyday setup might enjoy browsing unique Demon Slayer mouse pads featuring stunning character art.
