The second season of the anime Otome Game Sekai wa Mob ni Kibishii Sekai Desu finally has a release date. According to Anime News Network, the new season will begin airing on July 8.
The anime is adapted from the popular light novel of the same name. Its first season, which aired in April 2022, ran for twelve episodes and quickly built a devoted audience thanks to its mix of satire, adventure, and clever social commentary. The upcoming season is being produced once again by ENGI, keeping the same creative direction and tone that fans appreciated in the original run.
The light novel series wrapped up with thirteen volumes, offering readers a full story beyond what the anime has covered so far. A manga adaptation is also ongoing, continuing to draw in new fans with its detailed art and fresh interpretation of the source material.
The story centers on a young man who, after being forced by his sister to play an entire otome dating game, dies unexpectedly and finds himself reincarnated inside the game's world. In this matriarchal society ruled by noblewomen, his new life as a background character, or “mob,” is anything but comfortable. Ordinary men hold little status, and attention is reserved for the charming “romance targets” who surround the crown prince. Equipped with his knowledge of the game’s storyline, the protagonist just wants a quiet, uneventful life. But circumstances keep pulling him into the royal court’s drama, tangled politics, and complicated relationships.
Season 2 will build on those themes, giving more insight into the characters and showing how the protagonist’s choices start to challenge the strict social order of his world.
