Race, new song, and premiere date revealed in 'MF Ghost' Season 3 trailer

MF Ghost is gearing up for an exciting comeback to television screens, with the third season officially set to premiere on January 4, 2026. The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer released on the anime’s official website, giving fans a sneak peek at what’s next for the high-speed racing series.

The latest video preview teases an adrenaline-pumping race sequence from the upcoming season, setting the tone for the action ahead. It also reveals the show’s fresh opening theme, performed by Yū Serizawa featuring MOTSU, titled Timeless Power - a track that perfectly complements the series’ spirit of competition and passion for speed.

MF Ghost is based on the manga created by Shuichi Shigeno, the celebrated mind behind Initial D. The manga ran from 2017 until early 2024 in Weekly Young Magazine, concluding after 23 volumes. The series has been immensely popular, with over five million copies sold worldwide, continuing Shigeno’s legacy of blending high-octane street racing with deeply personal storytelling.

The first season of the anime premiered in 2023, followed by the second in 2024, each consisting of 12 episodes. Animation studio Felix Film continues to lead production, ensuring the adaptation remains faithful to the original while elevating it through dynamic visuals and cinematic race sequences.

Set in the near future, MF Ghost takes place in a world where self-driving electric and hybrid vehicles dominate the roads. Yet, in Japan, a bold organization known as MFG, founded by Ryosuke Takahashi, keeps the spirit of internal combustion racing alive. Among the new challengers is 19-year-old Kanata Livingston, a British-trained Formula 4 champion taught by legendary racer Takumi Fujiwara. Behind the wheel of his Toyota 86, Kanata races under the alias Kanata Katagiri, driven by a personal mission - to uncover the truth about his father.

With its mix of futuristic technology, nostalgia for traditional racing, and character-driven drama, MF Ghost continues to build on the legacy of Initial D while carving out its own thrilling narrative. Fans can look forward to more intense races, emotional arcs, and jaw-dropping animation when the series returns in 2026.
