Netflix has officially shared new information about its upcoming anime adaptation of One Piece. The project is described as a complete remake of Eiichiro Oda’s classic manga. According to early details, the series will premiere on the platform in February 2027 and will include seven episodes, adding up to roughly 300 minutes of content. The story will cover the first 50 chapters of the manga, following the Straw Hat Pirates at the start of their journey to find the ultimate treasure on the high seas.
The remake is being developed by Wit Studio, the team behind the first three seasons of *Attack on Titan* as well as *Vinland Saga* and *Ranking of Kings*. Netflix hasn’t announced an exact release date or additional production details yet, but viewers can expect a well-crafted retelling that uses modern animation techniques while keeping the spirit of the original series intact.
Eiichiro Oda first introduced the One Piece manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in July 1997. Since then, it has grown into a massive story with over 100 volumes and more than 600 million copies sold worldwide, earning the title of best-selling manga of all time. Its mix of adventure, humor, and themes of friendship and freedom has made it a lasting favorite for readers and viewers across generations.
The manga has also inspired a huge franchise, including the long-running anime produced by Toei Animation, which continues to air new episodes even after more than twenty years. Beyond television, One Piece has expanded into films, novels, games, and merchandise, reaching fans of all ages around the world.
This July will also bring the debut of a new anime titled *One Piece: Heroines*, based on a series of light novels that highlight the strong and diverse women of the franchise. On top of that, a new anime film set in the same universe is in the works, promising more adventures with the world’s most beloved crew of pirates.
