'One Piece: Heroines' Sets Its Premiere Date

A new anime inspired by one of the spin-offs of Eiichiro Oda’s legendary One Piece manga is currently in production. The upcoming TV series, based on the light novel collection One Piece: Heroines, now has an official premiere date. The adaptation will debut on July 5, as announced on the official One Piece website.

The anime will be directed by Haruka Katamani, known for Doremi: Looking for Magic, with Momoka Toyoda writing the script. Toyoda previously worked on My Happy Marriage and One Piece: A Letter from a Fan, both of which showcased her strong storytelling and sensitivity to character-driven narratives.

One Piece: Heroines currently consists of two volumes. The first was published in 2021, and the second arrived in 2024. These books compile stories centered on beloved female characters from Oda’s universe, giving them a chance to shine outside the main adventure. Readers can expect an intimate look into their personalities, motivations, and struggles.

The first volume includes unique tales about Nami, Robin, Vivi, and Perona. Nami steps into the glamorous but cutthroat world of fashion, discovering how courage and self-belief can shape destiny. Robin delves into an ancient mystery as she works to decipher an archaeological relic, blending intellect with quiet strength. Vivi experiences a heartfelt story of unexpected romance when she receives a mysterious love letter. Perona, on the other hand, finds herself caught in an unusual and supernatural conflict that tests her spirit and resolve.

Since its debut in Weekly Shonen Jump in July 1997, Oda’s One Piece has become the best-selling manga of all time, with over 516 million copies in circulation worldwide. Its enduring appeal comes from its blend of adventure, humor, and emotional storytelling, which continues to attract both long-time fans and new readers alike.

The One Piece franchise has expanded far beyond manga. It now includes movies, video games, spin-offs, and live-action adaptations. On March 10, Netflix will premiere the second season of its live-action One Piece series. Additionally, the streaming platform is working on an anime remake, which promises to reimagine the beloved saga for a new generation of viewers.
