New Episodes of 'JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run' Coming to Netflix This Fall

Netflix has officially revealed when the next chapter of the anime JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run will hit the platform. The second part of the series is set to premiere this fall, and unlike many past Netflix anime drops, new episodes will arrive weekly instead of being released all at once. According to What's on Netflix, this marks a shift toward a more traditional release model meant to keep fans tuning in week after week.

The anime is produced by David Production, the same studio behind earlier parts of the JoJo series. So far, only the 47-minute first episode has been released, which debuted on March 19. Fans have praised the studio for staying true to the manga's distinctive art design and over-the-top storytelling while giving it new life with updated animation.

Steel Ball Run is based on the manga by Hirohiko Araki. It was originally serialized between 2004 and 2011, first in Weekly Shonen Jump and later in Ultra Jump, and was eventually compiled into 24 volumes. This part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure acts as a soft reboot for the franchise, introducing a new setting and timeline. The story takes place in the United States in 1890 and follows Gyro Zeppeli and Johnny Joestar as they enter a cross-country race with a massive cash prize. What starts as a high-stakes competition soon turns into a supernatural journey involving strange powers and deeply personal battles for redemption.

After finishing Steel Ball Run, Araki continued the JoJo storyline in Ultra Jump magazine, completing Part 8 and beginning Part 9 in 2023. His style remains famous for its creativity, stylish character designs, and inventive use of supernatural abilities called Stands, which have become a signature element of the series.

The previous Netflix adaptation, Stone Ocean (Part 6), was released between 2021 and 2022 in three batches totaling 38 episodes. Following that success and the growing global interest in anime, Netflix’s plan for Steel Ball Run seems aimed at building steady engagement and ongoing conversations around one of Japan’s most well-known series.
