The popular fantasy anime Black Clover is officially returning. The studio behind the series, Studio Pierrot, has confirmed that a second season is in production and scheduled to premiere this October. According to the announcement, fans can expect the comeback of familiar characters, new magical challenges, and the same fast-paced storytelling that made the original series so popular.
The anime is based on the manga by Yūki Tabata, which ended on May 1 with chapter 392. The full story will be collected in 38 volumes, with the final volume coming out on August 4. The manga has sold more than 24.5 million copies worldwide, showing how strongly it’s connected with fans of fantasy and anime across the globe.
The Black Clover franchise now reaches well beyond the anime itself. It includes OVA episodes, a feature-length movie, light novels, and spin-off manga, building a world that continues to grow and keep fans invested in new ways.
The first season of the anime premiered in October 2017 and concluded in March 2021 after 170 episodes. In 2023, a standalone film called Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King debuted, telling an original story that explored new sides of the Clover Kingdom. Both the series and the movie were produced by Studio Pierrot, known for its work on many long-running shonen classics.
At the center of the story is Asta, a driven boy born without any magical power in a world where magic determines one’s place in society. While this might crush most people’s dreams, Asta refuses to give up on becoming the greatest mage in the kingdom. His life changes when he receives the legendary five-leaf clover grimoire, which grants him anti-magic—a power that cancels out other spells and allows him to face even the mightiest wizards.
