Kadokawa has officially announced the upcoming television anime FX Warrior Kurumi (FX Senshi Kurumi-chan), which is scheduled to premiere later this year. The series already has its first teaser trailer available online, giving fans a glimpse at the story’s tone and visual style.
When Kurumi Fukuga was still in middle school, her mother, Kozue, became obsessed with currency margin trading. Hoping to increase the family’s savings, she secretly used their money to speculate on the foreign exchange market. Unfortunately, the 2008 financial crisis and the collapse of Lehman Brothers wiped out her investments, leaving her with a loss of 20 million yen. Overwhelmed by debt and despair, Kozue took her own life, shattering Kurumi’s childhood. Swearing revenge on the world of finance that destroyed her family, Kurumi grows up determined to master currency trading herself, aiming to reclaim the money her mother lost and understand the forces that drove her to ruin.
The story was originally created by Demunyan and started as a web manga on the Shintosha platform in October 2016. Kadokawa later brought the series to print in its magazine Comic Flapper in February 2021, featuring detailed artwork by Daisuke Tansan. The latest, ninth volume was released on January 22.
The anime adaptation promises to explore not only personal resilience but also the psychological and economic pressures of the financial markets through an emotional narrative. With its mix of drama, finance, and youthful determination, FX Warrior Kurumi aims to stand out as a fresh take on modern coming-of-age stories set against the high-stakes world of forex trading.
