The highly anticipated fourth season of Welcome to the Classroom of the Elite (Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e) is on its way, and fans finally have a trailer filled with new details. The new season will premiere on April 1 with a special 90-minute episode that includes the first four episodes of the season.
The opening theme song for the season is titled MONSTER and is performed by Eir Aoi, while the ending theme Liar Veil is performed by ZAQ. Both tracks can be heard in the newly released trailer, giving fans a taste of the emotional and energetic tone of the upcoming season.
Produced by studio Lerche, the anime is based on the popular light novel series of the same name. The first season aired in 2017, followed by the second in 2022 and the third in 2024. Season four will continue the story by adapting the events from the first semester of the second year in the light novel’s sequel arc Welcome to the Classroom of the Elite: Second Year.
Thanks to the growing success of the franchise, a new set of novels titled Welcome to the Classroom of the Elite: Third Year also began publication in 2025, suggesting that the anime adaptation still has plenty of material for future seasons.
Set in the prestigious Kodo Ikusei Senior High School, the story explores a system where nearly 100% of graduates go on to top universities or secure high-paying jobs. Students have complete freedom over their appearance and behavior, making the school seem like an academic paradise. But behind that perfect facade lies a harsh hierarchy - only the most capable students receive privileges, while underachievers are pushed to the margins.
The story follows Kiyotaka Ayanokoji, a quiet and seemingly unremarkable student who ends up in Class D - the lowest-ranked class known as the home for the school’s “failures.” However, after he meets two classmates, Suzune Horikita and Kikyo Kushida, his life slowly begins to change, and his hidden intelligence and mysterious past start to surface. As competition between classes grows fiercer, Ayanokoji’s calm demeanor and sharp mind become key weapons in this psychological battle for power and recognition.
With its mix of strategic drama, social commentary, and psychological intrigue, Welcome to the Classroom of the Elite continues to capture audiences worldwide.
