Blockbuster Anime Saga 'Detective Conan' to Continue With 29th Film

Feature-length films from the Detective Conan franchise continue to enjoy massive popularity. With the release of the latest movie this spring, Detective Conan became the only anime franchise in Japan to have three consecutive films each surpass 10 billion yen at the box office—a milestone that highlights its ongoing strength and cultural impact.

The saga is far from slowing down. The 29th film has already been announced and is scheduled for release next spring. This installment will shift the spotlight to Chihaya Hagiwara, giving fans a deeper look at a character who has long intrigued audiences.

The most recent film, Detective Conan: Flashback of the One-Eyed, premiered earlier this year and quickly became a box office sensation. It has already grossed 14.66 billion yen, or roughly $100 million, making it the second-highest earning movie in Japan so far this year.

The crown, however, still belongs to the previous entry, Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Pentagram, which earned an astonishing 15.8 billion yen. That film was the single most successful movie in Japan's box office last year, proving the enduring power of the franchise even three decades after its debut. For fans who enjoy celebrating their favorite series beyond the big screen, unique merch like anime mouse pads featuring beloved designs can be a fun way to stay connected to the world of Conan.
