Berserk of Gluttony, also known as Boushoku no Berserk: Ore dake Level to Iu Gainen wo Toppa suru, is officially coming back for a second season. The anime is based on the light novel series of the same name. Its first season premiered in October 2023 and ran for 12 episodes, with animation studio A.C.G.T handling production. The season introduced a grim fantasy world where a person's abilities can determine their social standing, influence, and chances of survival.
The story centers on Fate Graphite, a young gatekeeper who has suffered throughout his life because of a mysterious skill called Gluttony. The ability initially seems like little more than a curse, leaving him with a constant hunger that he can never satisfy. The people around him see him as weak and worthless, forcing him to endure regular humiliation while serving warriors with far greater power and status.
Fate's life changes when he kills a bandit who is trying to enter the castle. He soon learns that Gluttony is not the useless ability he once believed it to be. It is actually one of the forbidden skills connected to the Deadly Sins, allowing him to consume the souls of defeated enemies and take their abilities, attributes, and strength for himself.
That discovery turns Fate from a powerless guard into a fighter who becomes more dangerous with every victory. Ordinary warriors are limited by the world's traditional leveling system, but Fate can keep growing beyond those established boundaries. There is a serious cost, however. Every new increase in power makes his hunger more intense, turning Gluttony into both a remarkable weapon and a curse that could eventually consume him.
The anime mixes action and supernatural powers with class conflict and the moral problems that come with gaining strength at someone else's expense.
