Some anime manage to make a comeback years after their debut, and one of the latest to do so is the fantasy series I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in the Real World: Leveling Up Changed My Life (Isekai de Cheat Skill o Te ni Shita Ore wa, Genjitsu Sekai o mo Musosuru). According to Anime News Network, the series recently premiered a special episode on March 29, and just before that, Kadokawa announced that a second season is officially in production. The first season of the anime adaptation aired in 2023 with a total of 13 episodes. It was produced by Millepensee, the same studio responsible for the new special episode. The show drew considerable attention for its mix of action, adventure, and fantasy elements, blending an isekai storyline with hints of real-life drama and personal growth.
The original light novel series began publishing in December 2018 and currently spans 20 volumes. It has also inspired a manga adaptation and several spin-offs. Written by Miku with illustrations by Rein Kuwashima, the story gained popularity among fans of power-fantasy and coming-of-age themes, appealing to readers who enjoy seeing underdog characters rise to greatness.
