The latest project from Reki Kawahara, well known for his global hits Sword Art Online and Accel World, is receiving an anime television adaptation. The series, titled Demons' Crest, continues Kawahara’s fascination with the virtual world genre - where the boundary between reality and digital illusion becomes increasingly blurred.
Set in a cutting-edge VRMMORPG called Actual Magic, the story follows a group of sixth graders who log into what is supposed to be the next evolution of virtual entertainment -only to find themselves trapped inside the game. What begins as a thrilling fantasy quickly spirals into a nightmare of survival, as eleven-year-old Yuma and his classmates discover that death inside the game may mean death in the real world.
The plot becomes even darker when one of their classmates transforms into a monstrous creature, hunting down the others within the virtual realm. Their only hope rests in the hands of Valak, a powerful demon spirit that has mysteriously possessed Yuma’s twin sister. With Valak’s cryptic guidance, the game’s dark fantasy setting draws fans who enjoy immersive worlds and detailed artwork.
