The highly anticipated second season of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is set to debut during the upcoming winter anime season. Less than a month before its release, fans were treated to an official trailer and the exact premiere date. The new season will begin streaming on January 5, 2026. Its opening theme, titled CATCH!!!, will be performed by Surii, and a short preview of the song can already be heard in the trailer.
The series is based on the manga of the same name and serves as a spin-off and prequel to the popular My Hero Academia by Kohei Horikoshi. The Vigilantes manga was serialized from 2016 to 2022 in Jump GIGA and Shonen Jump+ and spans 15 volumes. It was written by Hideyuki Furuhashi and illustrated by Betten Court.
The anime adaptation premiered earlier this year and is produced by BONES FILM, a studio known for bringing dynamic action and emotional storytelling to life. The first season consisted of 13 episodes that introduced fans to the darker corners of the My Hero Academia universe - a world where not all heroes wear official badges or follow the law.
The story centers on a young man born with a unique superpower, or "quirk," like many others in his society. However, lacking an official hero license, he walks a fine line between heroism and vigilantism. Despite being unrecognized by the system, he uses his abilities to help those in need, blurring the boundaries between justice and lawbreaking. This theme of ordinary individuals standing up for what’s right in a flawed world makes the series resonate with fans who crave more nuanced superhero stories.
Meanwhile, fans of the main My Hero Academia series can also look forward to the conclusion of its eighth season, which wraps up on December 13. This marks the end of the long-running anime, making the arrival of Vigilantes Season 2 an exciting new chapter for the franchise and its dedicated fanbase.
