'Historie', Historical Anime Unveiled About Alexander the Great’s Personal Secretary

Nikkatsu has announced the television anime adaptation of Historie. The first official teaser has already been released, offering a glimpse into this historical epic brought to life through animation.

The series is being produced by LIDEN FILMS, the studio behind acclaimed titles like Tokyo Revengers and Call of the Night. Fans can expect the same high-quality storytelling, detailed animation, and compelling characters that have made the studio’s previous works so popular.

Alexander the Great is remembered across the globe as one of history’s most brilliant military leaders. Yet, behind his legendary conquests stood Eumenes, a man whose sharp mind and relentless determination shaped many moments of Alexander’s success. Born far from nobility, Eumenes rose through talent and intelligence alone, proving himself indispensable as Alexander’s personal secretary and trusted strategist. His life was marked by endless journeys, trials, and encounters with some of the most powerful figures of the ancient world. This is the story of his ambition, resilience, and the will to carve his destiny amid the chaos of an empire.

The anime is based on the manga created by Hitoshi Iwaaki, best known for Parasyte. Historie has been serialized in the magazine Afternoon since 2003 and currently spans 12 volumes with over 4.7 million copies in circulation. The manga has been praised for its meticulous historical detail, philosophical depth, and its exploration of what it means to shape history from the shadows of greatness.

With the upcoming anime adaptation, viewers will soon have the chance to experience Eumenes’ journey not just through ink and paper, but vividly brought to life on screen - a story of intellect, loyalty, and ambition set against the vast canvas of the ancient world.
