Netflix has confirmed when the second part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run will arrive. The new episodes will start streaming on September 25, with 11 episodes coming out weekly. This next arc covers the intense middle stages of the cross-country race and promises more layered storytelling, fierce battles, and the debut of new Stands.
The anime is produced by David Production, the studio behind all previous JoJo adaptations, known for its energetic animation and close attention to the source material. So far, only one episode—a 47-minute special—has been released, premiering on Netflix on March 19. That episode brought fans back into the atmospheric world of Steel Ball Run and laid the groundwork for the high-stakes journey ahead.
The story comes from the manga by Hirohiko Araki, who reinvented the JoJo universe for this part. Originally published from 2004 to 2011, Steel Ball Run spans 24 volumes and serves as a fresh start for the series. It mixes western-inspired adventure with surreal fantasy and supernatural elements, becoming one of the most celebrated arcs in the franchise’s history.
Set in the United States in 1890, the story follows Gyro Zeppeli and Johnny Joestar, two racers competing in a race across the continent for wealth and glory. Along the way, they face unusual rivals, mysterious powers, and a deeper puzzle that touches on time, fate, and ambition. The race itself reflects the struggle for redemption and the drive to find meaning in hardship.
After finishing Steel Ball Run, Araki kept building on the world of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, creating new arcs that explore different places and generations of the Joestar family. His later stories expand the universe first reshaped in Steel Ball Run, earning the series a devoted global following and a growing number of adaptations across various media.
For both longtime fans and newcomers, the upcoming release is a welcome return to one of anime’s most imaginative worlds. You can find more information about the series here.
