Netflix has shared the first teaser for its upcoming anime remake of One Piece. The series is scheduled to premiere worldwide on the platform in February 2027. Even though the preview is short, it has already stirred plenty of excitement among fans eager to see how this new version will reimagine the iconic pirate adventure.
The project is being handled by Wit Studio, the respected Japanese animation studio behind the first three seasons of Attack on Titan, the first season of Vinland Saga, and the hit series Demon Slayer. This new retelling will include seven episodes, totaling about 300 minutes, and will cover the earliest chapters of the manga, following Monkey D. Luffy as he begins his journey to form the Straw Hat Pirates.
The One Piece manga, created by Eiichiro Oda, first appeared in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997 and has grown into one of the most popular and influential manga series of all time. With 114 collected volumes and more than 600 million copies sold around the world, it remains the best-selling manga in history and has inspired readers and creators across generations.
Over the years, the franchise has expanded into a massive multimedia world, including films, video games, novels, and the long-running anime produced by Toei Animation, which continues to air after more than two decades. Its lasting success comes from the mix of heartfelt themes like friendship, freedom, and adventure, woven into a colorful world full of memorable characters.
Alongside the remake, a new anime series titled The One Piece: Heroines is set to premiere in July. It’s based on a series of light novels that highlight the women of the One Piece universe. There’s also a new anime film currently in production, promising even more stories and adventures for both longtime fans and newcomers.
