'Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle' Sets New Record at the Domestic Box Office

More than six months have passed since the Japanese premiere of the first film in the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle trilogy, yet the movie continues to bring in impressive numbers at theaters. As of January 25, its box office earnings had surpassed 39.14 billion yen (around $256.5 million). According to official box office data, the film’s success shows no sign of slowing down as fans keep returning to the big screen for this cinematic spectacle.

The movie premiered on July 18, 2025, and quickly became the highest-grossing film in Japan that year. With those massive earnings, the first installment of Infinity Castle has also become the second-highest grossing movie in Japan’s history, only trailing behind Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, which debuted in October 2020 and earned an astonishing 40.75 billion yen. This sequel builds on the incredible momentum of the Demon Slayer franchise, which has become a cultural phenomenon both in Japan and abroad.

Produced on a relatively modest budget of $20 million, the film has already generated approximately $778.9 million worldwide, according to The Numbers. That remarkable figure makes it not only the seventh highest-grossing global release of 2025 but also the most successful Japanese film ever made. Its blend of emotional storytelling, visually stunning animation, and epic action sequences has captivated audiences around the globe, appealing to both long-time fans and newcomers to the series.

The Infinity Castle trilogy, created by animation studio ufotable, adapts the final arc of Koyoharu Gotouge’s original Demon Slayer manga. The second and third parts of the trilogy have yet to receive official release dates, but anticipation is already sky-high. Fans around the world are eager to see how this beloved story will reach its long-awaited conclusion and continue pushing the limits of anime filmmaking on the big screen. For those who want to show their support beyond the theater, exploring unique Demon Slayer mouse pads can be a fun way to bring some of that cinematic energy to your everyday workspace.
